Salem State Travels to No. 25 Oswego State for Men's Basketball NCAA First Round
MASCAC Tournament Champion Salem State will travel to No. 25 Oswego State to get its NCAA Division III Men's Basketball journey started. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
INDIANAPOLIS – Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament Champion, Salem State , will play No. 25 Oswego State (22-5, 15-3 SUNYAC) in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship as part of a 64-team field that was announced during the NCAA.com Selection Show on Monday afternoon. Game time is set for Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.
The Vikings (18-9, 10-2 MASCAC) and Lakers are two of 43 teams to gain entry to this year’s championship as their conference’s automatic qualifier. While Salem State won the MASCAC, Oswego was the champion of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
The Lakers are the hosts of the four-team pod that also includes Baldwin Wallace (20-8, 11-7 OAC) and Salisbury (19-8, 8-6 CAC). The Yellow Jackets were also automatic qualifiers defeating Mount Union, 79-75 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship. The Sea Gulls lost in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) semifinals, but earned one of the 20 “Pool C” at-large selections. These two teams will open First Round play in Oswego at 5:30 p.m.
The two winners of the First Round matchups will play in the Second Round on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m.
