Several MASCAC Schools Set to Compete in ECAC Tournaments
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference will be well represented this week during the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournaments in volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer and field hockey.
CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference will be well represented this week during the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournaments in volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer and field hockey.
Framingham State was picked to be the No. 5 seed for the ECAC Division III New England Volleyball Championship after finishing as the runner-up in the MASCAC tournament over the weekend. The Rams completed their season 25-7 and will face off with No. 4 Smith College (21-8) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 16 hosted by the highest remaining seed. The winner of No. 1 Salve Regina/No. 8 Emerson will face the winner of Smith/Framingham State.
The Lancers of Worcester State were selected as the No. 3 seed in the Division III New England Men’s Soccer Championship. The Lancers (11-4-4) won the MASCAC regular season title and will host No. 6 seed Mount Ida College (8-7-3) also on Wednesday.
The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 16th hosted by No. 1 Springfield College. The winner of No. 2 Lasell College/No. 7 Lesley University will face the winner of Worcester State/Mount Ida.
Tabbed to be the No. 4 seed in the ECAC Division III Women's Soccer Championship, Framingham State (13-2-1), who won the MASCAC regular season crown, will open the tournament against Albertus Magnus (12-4-3) on Wednesday.

Nabbing three schools from the MASCAC, Bridgewater State, Framingham State and Worcester State will all compete for the ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Championship.
The No. 3 seed Bears (15-5) will host the No. 6 seed Rams (9-9) on Wednesday while the No. 5 seed Lancers (11-8) take on the No. 4 seed Smith College (11-8). When Bridgewater State and Framingham State met up during their Little East conference schedule, the Bears came out on top, 2-0.

The winner of Smith College vs. Worcester State will face Plymouth State at 11 a.m. in one semifinal and the winner of Bridgewater State vs. Framingham State will face No. 2 seed University of New England in the second semifinal at 2 p.m.
The ECAC is the nation's largest and the only multi-divisional athletic conference in the country with more than 300 Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities. The ECAC stretches from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Colorado. Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-profit service organization, sponsors nearly 100 championships in 37 men's and women's sports and assigns more than 4,400 officials in 12 sports. The ECAC also administers nine affiliate sports organizations and six playing leagues, and through the public relations arm of the conference, more than 2,500 student-athletes in 23 sports are recognized annually. Finally, the ECAC serves as the primary conference for select members in the sports of men's and women's ice hockey and men's lacrosse.
