Westfield State sophomore defensive back Ryan O'Connell (Athol, Mass.) was named as the New England Football Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Saturday evening after accounting for three turnovers in the Owls' 33-16 victory at Worcester State.
O'Connell recorded a pair of interceptions (with 22 return yards) and recovered a fumble in Westfield State's season finale. He also forced a fumble and made eight total tackles, including six solo stops.
