MASCAC Football Weekly Awards Winners 9/3
With the start of the 2023 football season, Dante Aviles-Santos, Trell Best and Braedyn DeMarco of UMass Dartmouth along with Rocky Marchitelli of Fitchburg State take home the first MASCAC Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Rookie of the Week awards.

Offensive Player of the Week |
Aviles-Santos guided the Corsairs to a 57-6 victory at Nichols on Friday after he went 17-of-27 with 282 yards and four touchdowns. He also had two carries for 37 yards in the contest. In the second quarter, his 50-yard pass to Antonio Brown saw him surpass Stephen Gacioch ‘21 to become the Corsairs All-Time leader in career passing yards - he now had 5,664 in his career. Additionally, his four touchdowns saw him best Cory Burnham ‘16 for all-time passing TD’s by one - he now has 57. His performance helped him earn the NEFW DII/DIII Gold Helmet award for week one. |
Defensive Player of the Week |
Best had an outstanding start to his senior campaign on Friday, helping the Corsairs to a 57-6 victory in the season opener at Nichols. The defensive back posted four tackles, three solo. In the second quarter, with Nichols threatening on the UMD 31 yard line, Best intercepted a pass, taking it the distance for 73 yards on the pick-six to make it a 22-0 lead for the Corsairs. |
Special Teams Player of the Week |
DeMarco was solid in the Corsairs season opener at Nichols, going a perfect 7-for-7 in point-after attempts as UMass Dartmouth posted a 57-6 victory to open 2023.

Rookie of the Week |
Marchitelli completed 17-of-38 passes for 192 yards and his first collegiate touchdown pass for the Falcons in a 33-17 setback to Dean College in the Falcons 2023 season opener on Saturday. |
