The UMass Dartmouth trio of Marvens Jean, Trell Best and Jason Nickerson plus Isaiah Wright of Bridgewater State grab the week two MASCAC Football Offensive, Defensive, Rookie and Special Teams Player of the Week awards.

Offensive Player of the Week |
Jean paced the Corsairs receiving core in a 28-14 victory over Curry on Saturday, recording 91 yards on four catches, including a 71-yard throw at 6:26 of the opening quarter to give UMD a 6-0 lead. He averaged 22.8 yards on the night as his second touchdown of the game came on a short-yard run with 2:02 remaining in the first for the 13-0 Corsair lead. |
Defensive Player of the Week |
Best anchored the UMD defense in the Corsairs, 28-14 win against Curry on Saturday. Recorded a game-high 10 tackles, including four solo. He also recorded two tackles for a loss of three yards as the Corsairs held the Colonels to just 274 yards (221 rush, 53 passing) of total offense. |
Special Teams Player of the Week |
Wright notched the Bears’ first kickoff return for a touchdown in nearly eight years in a 24-21 setback to WPI. Returned a fourth quarter kickoff 85 yards to the house to give the Bears a 21-16 lead at the time. Averaged 57 yards on a pair of kickoff returns.

Rookie of the Week |
Nickerson had an incredible home debut on Saturday in the Corsairs’ 28-14 win over Curry. He recorded five tackles, including three solo and one for a loss of 20 yards. Nickerson also picked up a critical sack, culminating in a loss of 20 yards for Curry. He also had multiple QB hurries in the game, including three in the fourth quarter. |
