The Framingham State University football careers of two running backs from Brockton will conclude Saturday afternoon in the first New England Bowl.
Trevon Offley and Jalen Green have been together since 2014 when Offley transferred from Endicott College.
The Rams (7-3) are playing Salve Regina University (8-1) in the postseason game at Middletown, R.I.
Offley, who has been limited to seven games this season due to an injury, leads Framingham State with 511 rushing yards on 89 carries and has scored five touchdowns.
Green, who also sat out three games with an injury, is third on the team with 416 yards on 99 carries and has three TDs.
“They’ve meant a lot to the program,’’ said Rams coach Tom Kelley. “Unfortunately this year, they’ve been dinged up.
“Trevon is everything we expected and then some. He’s a downhill guy with pretty good speed and he’s athletic. He’s getting healthy at the end of the year.
“Jalen was kind of flying under the radar when we recruited him. He’s really been productive.’’
Offley, a 2011 Brockton High School graduate, attended Suffield Academy before going to Endicott where he had limited playing time.
In three seasons at Framingham, Offley has 1,232 rushing yards in 22 games.
Offley suffered a ruptured knee tendon in a game against Fitchburg State in 2014, limiting him to three games that season.
Another injury in the preseason this year forced Offley to miss the first two games and then he sat out another. Offley has gone over the 100-yard mark three times this season, getting 161 yards with three TDs last Saturday against Worcester State.
Green, who attended Quincy High through school choice, has 2,010 yards and 14 TDs on the ground in his career.
He opened the season by rushing for 111 yards against Endicott, but an injury forced Green out of three games in October. He had 92 yards and a TD against Worcester State.
“Not having them all season really hurt,’’ said Kelley.
Framingham State’s top offensive lineman is junior captain Joe Wilder of Stoughton, who made the All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference second team.
The left tackle made the all-conference first team as a sophomore.
“Joe is just that blue-collar kid who just keeps getting better,’’ said Kelley. “Very rarely in my tenure have we had a junior captain. He’s a quiet leader, he comes to work every day and works his tail off.’’
