Six MASCAC Student-Athletes Named New England Football Writers All-New England Team
Six Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football student-athletes were named to the New England Football Writers (NEFW) Division II/III All-New England team.
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Six Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football student-athletes were named to the New England Football Writers (NEFW) Division II/III All-New England team.
Worcester State led all the honorees with three student-athletes on the team, Casey Hippert, Kemani Jones and Bryan Narcisse. Framingham State's Kevin Donahue and Nick Stanfield were also recognized along with Bridgewater State's Matt Green.
Hippert earned the lone tight end spot for his standout play during the course of the 2014 campaign. He pulled down 50 receptions for 764 yards and five scores which were all among the top 10 in the MASCAC standings.
Hippert also wrapped up his Worcester State career second in receiving yardage (2,598 yards), third in receptions (159) and fourth with 20 touchdown catches.
Narcisse had a strong senior season at defensive end for the Lancers as he topped the MASCAC in sacks (12.5) and tackles for a loss (21) while also adding 83 tackles (56 solo), one forced fumble, one interception and a pair of pass break-ups.
With a school-record 1,275 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, Jones had a break-out campaign at tail back for the Lancers. In addition to having the best average yards per rush in the MASCAC (6.0), he ended the year leading the region in average all-purpose yardage (179.2 YPG) and he hauled in 33 catches for 392 yards and two scores.
Donahue, the 2014 MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-conference honoree, led the Rams defense that surrendered just 16.9 points per game. Donahue was the Rams leading tackler in 2014 with 95 stops including a school record 77 solo. He recorded 11.5 tackles for a loss with four sacks, five pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Stanfield continues to accrue honors this season after being named the MASCAC Offensive Lineman of the Year and a first team All-MASCAC selection. Stanfield was the anchor of the Rams offensive line starting all 11 game this season. The Rams had the second most potent offense in the conference averaging 423 yards per contest and scoring over 34 points per game. The Rams offensive line led by Stanfield allowed just eight sacks on the year.
Green hauled in 64 passes for 900 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2014 campaign. The Stoughton, Massachusetts product led the MASCAC in receiving yards per game (112.5). He also finished third in the conference in receptions and receiving yards, despite missing two games to injury, as well as sixth in yards per catch (14.1) and receiving touchdowns.
The All-New England Team will be honored by the New England Football Writers at their annual Captains and Awards Banquet on December 11th.
