Six MASCAC Student-Athletes Take Home ECAC Weekly Award Honors

Six Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have garnered Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) weekly awards for their respective sports.
After winning the MASCAC weekly honors, Kenny Pierce of Massachusetts Maritime, Matt Cronin of UMass Dartmouth and Bryan Narcisse of Worcester State earned the ECAC DIII New England rookie, special teams and defensive weekly accolades.
Pierce ran for 149 yards on 19 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ 27-7 victory at Plymouth State. On the season, the rookie back has churned out 496 yards on the ground.
Leading the Corsairs to a comeback victory, Cronin averaged 48.5 yards on two kick returns, including a 76-yard touchdown return in the Corsairs’ 37-36 win over Fitchburg State.
Narcisse racked up 13 tackles, to go with 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss in a 35-22 win over Westfield State. The senior defensive end also added an interception to set up a score in the third quarter.
Fitchburg State's Brett Smith takes home the ECAC DIII New England Men's Soccer Player of the Week after tallying two goals and an assist in a 3-0 week for Fitchburg State. The senior midfielder scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Massachusetts Maritime and the game-winner in the 1-0 MASCAC Championship win over Bridgewater State to lead the Falcons to the MASCAC Championship title.
Framingham State's Alycia Rackliffe is the ECAC DIII New England Player of the Week after also earning the MASCAC Player of the Week. Rackliffe tallied 26 kills over seven sets as Framingham State went 2-0 last week, winning the MASCAC Tournament Championship. The sophomore outside hitter averaged 3.71 kills per set for a .313 hitting percentage and added six solo blocks on the week.
Bridgewater State's Christina Jaros earned the ECAC DIII New England Rookie of the Week while also taking the MASCAC Rookie of the Week crown this week. Jaros tallied nine kills, five digs and two solo blocks in a 3-0 win over MCLA, and 12 kills and four blocks in a 3-1 setback to Framingham State. The rookie averaged 3.0 kills per set on a .377 hitting percentage as the Bears went 1-1 last week.
