Nine Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football student-athletes have earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North All-Star accolades as announced by the league.
Matt Green of Bridgewater State, Kevin Donahue, Kendall Kelleher and James Krebs of Framingham State, Abiola Aborishade of UMass Dartmouth, Michael Mercadante and Marcus Pettigrew of Westfield State and Casey Hippert and Bryan Narcisse of Worcester State all earned ECAC honors for their play during the 2014 season.
Each ECAC honoree was named to the MASCAC Football First Team All-Conference squad in November.
Reigning MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year, Green hauled in 64 passes for 900 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2014 campaign. The Stoughton, Massachusetts product led the MASCAC in receiving yards per game (112.5). He also finished third in the conference in receptions and receiving yards as well as sixth in yards per catch (14.1) and receiving touchdowns.
Donahue, the 2014 MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year, led the Rams defense that surrendered just 16.9 points per game. Donahue was the Rams leading tackler in 2014 with 95 stops including a school record 77 solo. He recorded 11.5 tackles for a loss with four sacks, five pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Kelleher and Krebs were a major part of the Rams' offense that averaged 423 yards per contest and scored over 34 points per game. The Rams offensive line led by Krebs allowed just eight sacks on the year, while Kelleher amassed 310 yards receiving on 22 receptions in 2014.
Aborishade ranked among the Division III leaders in receptions per game (4th, 9.3), while ranking among the MASCAC leaders in scoring (4th, 66), receiving yards (5th, 802), and all-purpose yards (6th, 118.9).
Mercadante enjoyed a strong senior season for the Owls that saw him rush for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns. His rushing total was the fourth-best single season in the history of the Owls football program, and his 16 touchdowns tied a program record.
Pettigrew ranked second on the team with 76 total tackles, and led the team with 20 tackles for losses and 8.5 sacks. He also recorded two pass breakups, forced two fumbles, and occasionally served as a lead blocker in short-yardage situations on offense.
With team-highs of 50 receptions for 764 yards and five touchdowns, Hippert was among the top 10 in the MASCAC in each category and he was sixth in the league with 84.9 yards per contest. In the latest NCAA Division III rankings, Hippert was second at his position in total receiving yards and average receiving yards.
Narcisse finished his final campaign with 83 tackles (53 solo) while leading the region in sacks (12.5) and tackles for a loss (21.0). Entering the week of the Division III National Semifinals, Narcisse is still ranked among the nation's best with the fourth-highest average sacks (1.25) and the ninth best average tackles for a loss (2.1) while his solo tackles per game are 75th (5.6).
