Former Worcester State Standout Reno Named As Head Football Coach At Yale

New Haven, CT --- Former Worcester State three-year starter and Defensive Coordinator Tony Reno has been selected as the next head coach at Yale University as announced in a recent press conference held in the Champions Room at Yale's Kenney Center.
Reno comes off a tremendous 2011 campaign at Harvard where he helped guide the Crimson this past season to an undefeated season in Ivy League play (7-0) and to a #14 Football Championship Subdivision National Ranking. From 2009-11, Reno served as Harvard's special teams coordinator and defensive secondary coach.
Reno, rose through the ranks from 2003 to 2008 as an assistant coach at Yale where he coached the wide recievers in 2003 and from 2004-08 he piloted the defensive secondary.
After returning to Worcester State from a one-year coaching stint at Kings College (PA), Reno was the squads defensive coordinator from 1998 to 2002.
During his time on the sidelines at Coughlin Field, Reno helped the squad post a 27-5 record as the team also made ECAC Division III Bowl game appearances in 2001 and 2002 and captured the ECAC Northeast Bowl crown in a thrilling 36-35 triumph over Curry in 2001.
In 2002, Reno was named the AFLAC/National Assistant of the Year.
Reno graduated from Worcester State in 1997 as a three-year starter at free safety. From 1995-96, the Lancers captured back-to-back NEFC league titles and earned ECAC Bowl game berths. The 1996 squad went 10-0 in the regular season and led the nation in scoring, rushing and pass efficency defense.
