Westfield State’s Crowley, Framingham State’s Hodgson Earn 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year, Headline the Baseball All-Conference Team
Westfield State’s Anthony Crowley and Framingham State’s Kyle Hodgson have been named the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2019 MASCAC All-Conference team as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.

Westfield, Mass. — Westfield State’s Anthony Crowley and Framingham State’s Kyle Hodgson have been named the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2019 MASCAC All-Conference team as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.
For the second straight year, Crowley earned MASCAC Player of the Year accolades. A senior outfielder from Bellingham, Mass. helped the Owls repeat as MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Champions. Crowley led the conference in home runs with nine and walks with 36. He was also second in RBI (36), slugging percentage (.729) and on-base percentage (.532) and third in batting average (.390) whilce scoring 30 runs and stealing nine bases. In the 9-3 win over Western New England, Crowley went 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs scored and five RBI.
Taking home 2019 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year honors, Hodgson, a senior from Berkley, Mass. led the league in several categories, including wins (8), complete games (6), shutouts (2) and innings pitched (91.2). He had the second-most strikeouts with 80 and the fifth-best ERA at 2.65. In the 1-0 win over Salem State, Hodgson threw a complete-game, allowing seven hits, no earned runs and tallying six strikeouts in the victory.
Andrew Miller of Worcester State was named the 2019 MASCAC Rookie of the Year after registering a .376 batting average, six home runs, five doubles, 18 runs scored, 27 RBI with a .671 slugging percentage and .409 on-base percentage for the Lancers. His best game of the season came in the win over Framingham State where he went 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.
Kevin Barnaby of Fitchburg State was picked as the 2019 Champion’s Choice Coach of the Year by his peers. Barnaby helped the Falcons to a 13-8 league mark and the second seed in the MASCAC Tournament.
Grabbing a spot on the MASCAC First Team All-Conference along with Crowley, Hodgson and Miller are Bridgewater State’s Liam Bell and Kevin Bresciani, Fitchburg State’s Nicholas Cordeau and Joshua Macomber, Salem State’s Traverse Briana, Westfield State’s Colin Dunn, John Gegetskas and Nick Martin and Worcester State’s Jake Breton.
Earning a spot on the MASCAC second team are Fitchburg State’s Vincent Eramo and Tommy Parsons, Framingham State’s Joe Ambrosino and Kyle Lippert, Salem State’s Mike Griffin, Matt Marquez and Andrew McLaughlin, Westfield State’s Casey Boudreau and Jake Gibb and Worcester State’s Cooper Bigelow, Michael Ferrara and Ben Palatino.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation’s first Division III men’s and women’s playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men’s ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
