Westfield State duo of Crowley, Gegetskas Earn 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year, Headline the Baseball All-Conference Team
The Westfield State duo of Anthony Crowley and John Gegetskas have been named the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2018 MASCAC All-Conference team as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.

Westfield, Mass. — The Westfield State duo of Anthony Crowley and John Gegetskas have been named the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2018 MASCAC All-Conference team as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.
Crowley, a junior outfielder from Bellingham, Mass. had a standout year for the Owls, who won a share of the MASCAC Regular Season title and the tournament crown on Monday. Crowley led the conference in home runs (12), RBI (55), total bases (109) and slugging percentage (.752). He was also second in walks (26) and doubles (13), third in on-base percentage (.464.) and triples (4) and fourth in batting average (.359). His eighth inning triple sparked the game-winning rally in the conference championship game.
Earning 2018 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year honors, Gegetskas, a junior from Windsor, Conn. led the league as he posted an 8-1 record with two saves and 82 strikeouts. He ranked second in the league with a 2.00 ERA and five complete games. He averaged 10.91 strikeouts per game while holding his opponents to a .199 batting average. He was named Tournament MVP honors after getting a win in the MASCAC Tournament quarterfinals and pitched two innings of shutout relief in the championship game.
John Teehan of Massachusetts Maritime, a freshman from Hyde Park, Mass., is the 2018 MASCAC Rookie of the Year after collecting four wins on the mound with a 2.40 ERA, 63 strikeouts, three saves, four complete games and a shutout. He held his opponents to a .215 batting average against him while only allowing 25 walks this season. His ERA, strikeouts, save total, complete games and shutouts are all in the top five of the conference.
After leading the Owls to a share of the MASCAC Regular Season Title and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament, Nathan Bashaw of Westfield State was named the 2018 Champion’s Choice Coach of the Year.
Grabbing a spot on the MASCAC First Team All-Conference along with Crowley, Gegetskas and Teehan are Framingham State’s Cameron Borrelli, Anthony Venuti and Aaron Williams, MCLA’s Logan Rumbolt, Massachusetts Maritime’s Logan Sullo, Salem State’s Mac Daniel Singleton and Joe White, Westfield State’s Brett Dooley and Alex Lafayette and Worcester State’s Ben Palatino.
Sitting on the MASCAC second team are Bridgewater State’s Randy Frazier, Fitchburg State’s Nicholas Cordeau, Brennan Cuddahy and Ryan Towle, Framingham State’s Jordan Pallazolla, MCLA’s Liam Nolan, Massachusetts Maritime’s Casey Furnas and Connor Kennedy, Westfield State’s John Lippincott and Worcester State’s Jake Breton.
