Throughout Division III Week April 13-19, the MASCAC will be hosting a remote Yards for Yeardley event to show support for the One Love Foundation.
According to their website, "One Love educates young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships, empowering them to identify and avoid abuse and learn how to love better."
Last December, the MASCAC SAAC held the One Love training as part of its Annual Meeting. The student-athletes were led by Erin Lepper the Equal Opportunity & Compliance Prog. Investigator from Westfield State University. The group was shown a video depicting a relationship that turned violent. After the video, the student-athletes split into groups to discuss attributes of unhealthy and healthy relationships.
In its 10th year, the Yards for Yeardley campaign sets out to not only bring awareness to the foundation and its mission but to get people moving as Yeardley did during her time as a women's lacrosse student-athlete at the University of Virginia.
As part of the MASCAC campaign, each participant can record the yards they do whether it be running, walking, dancing, biking, swimming, etc...to a Google Doc which will record your name and school affiliation. Each day, the yards will be added up and shared on social media. During the week, the participants are also asked to share photos or videos using #MASCACYards on social media to show how they are collecting them.
