For the last several years, the Massachusetts Maritime Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has been collecting toys for Children's Cove. This year, they were able to collect 650 toys for the organization.
The SAAC student-athletes along with Massachusetts Maritime staff delivered the new and unwrapped toys as part of the annual Christmas toy drive to benefit Children’s Cove of Cape Cod. Over the past six years, the Buccaneer SAAC has helped gather over 2,300 toys for Children’s Cove.
"Massachusetts Maritime Academy Athletics was again thrilled to collect hundreds of toys for the children and families who are supported by Children's Cove," Massachusetts Maritime Director of Athletics Garin Veris said. "In the time of need, Children's Cove continues to provide opportunities for children and families to be in a safe environment and to receive support so vital to a bright future. We understand the value of the important work that Childrens' Cove brings to the lives of those who have been affected by child abuse. To help collect toys during the holiday season and present those toys to Children's Cove is very special to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy family. We look forward to continuing this tradition of giving back to our community."
Children’s Cove is a freestanding, child-friendly facility designed to ensure that victims of child sexual abuse and their non-offending family members have access to support and services in a safe, respectful and compassionate environment.
