Westfield State claimed the MASCAC Men's Cross Country Championship hosted by Fitchburg State at the Doyle Conservation Area on Saturday, October 29. The Owls finished with 24 points overall while runner-up Fitchburg State was next with 50 points.
Jake Hastings of Fitchburg State and Trevon Wysong of Bridgewater State were named the MASCAC Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year after being the top overall and first time performer.
The Westfield State women's team won their 13th straight MASCAC Women's Cross Country Championship. The Owls took home the title with 24 points overall while runner-up Worcester State came in second with 57.
Westfield State's Jessie Cardin earned her third straight Runner of the Year honors as the top individual finisher while Bridgewater State's Jenise Madden was named Rookie of the Year as the top first time performer.
Cardin continued her success at the NCAA DIII New England Regional where she finished fourth to earn a spot at the NCAA DIII Championships in Louisville, KY.
Framingham State claimed their third straight MASCAC Tournament title with a 3-0 victory over MCLA. In the MASCAC semifinals, the Rams bested Bridgewater State 3-0 to earn a spot in the championship. With their win, the Rams earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament against MIT.
Alycia Rackliffe earned her third straight MASCAC Tournament MVP honors after averaging 17.5 kills, 6.5 digs and 2.5 blocks with a .377 hitting percentage during the tournament.
Rackliffe was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-Region and All-American Honorable Mention.
For the first time since 2005, Worcester State won the MASCAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship with a 4-2 win over Fitchburg State. The victory punched the Lancers ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Worcester State's Andre Ipojuca earned Tournament MVP accolades after tallying eight points on three goals and two assists during the tournament.
Fitchburg State's Matthew Krikorian was named the ECAC DIII New England Rookie of the Year while also earning a spot on the first team. Joining him on the first team was teammate Steven Martinez.
Worcester State grabbed the 2016 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament crown with a thrilling 2-1 win over Bridgewater State. For the second time in three years, the Lancers landed a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Lancers Ashleigh Howard was named the Tournament MVP after draining the game-winning goal in the 86th minute of the championship game to lead the team to victory.
Bridgewater State, for the first time since 2008, claimed the MASCAC Football regular season championship. The Bears went 8-2 for the top spot in the league to earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
In the Inaugural New England Football Bowl game, Framingham State outlasted Salve Regina, 37-34 to take home the title. The Rams Adam Wojenski was named Tournament MVP after completing 13-of-20 passes (65 percent) for 224 yards with two touchdowns while also rushing for a touchdown in the win.
Elvis Romero of Bridgewater State, Campbell Marchant of Framingham State, Marshall McCarthy of Massachusetts Maritime, Zach Ziemba of Plymouth State and Pat Sullivan of UMass Dartmouth earned a spot on the 2016 New England Football Writers Association Division II-III All-New England team.
Framingham State's Stephen Beahn, McCarthy, Romero and Sullivan were recognized on the D3football.com All- East Region teams.
