MCLA falls to Framingham 3-1
North Adams, MA- The visiting Framingham State Rams took a commanding 3-0 first half lead and never looked back as they defeated MCLA 3-1 in MASCAC Men's Soccer action. With the loss, MCLA is now 5-5-1, 2-2 in the league, while Framingham improves to 8-4 overall, 3-1 in league play.
The host Trailblazers were doomed by a nine minute stretch in the first half. Ram forward Jason Silva was the beneficiary of a fumbled cross by MCLA keeper Adam Tarsa, pounding home the rebound from close range at the 20:13 mark. Silva would add his second tally just two minutes later taking a Ronaldo Vieira through ball and again finishing from close range.
Framingham would collect an own goal in the 28th minute as Tarsa attempted to punch a cross away, but the ball caromed forward off an MCLA defender's head into the goal. Framingham outshot the Trailblazers 11-7 in the opening half.
The second half saw both sides turn up the aggresiveness. The Trailblazers would break through in the 83rd minute as Jake McCall hammered home a shot to the upper left corner narrowly beating Ram keeper Greg Halle. Neither team would threaten the remainder of the contest.
Framingham would outshoot the Trailblazers 20-13 on the afternoon, while holding a 6-3 edge in corners. Halle would stop four shots for the Rams, while Tarsa would collect five saves.
MCLA is back in action on Wednesday as they host Southern Vermont.
