WORCESTER, MA: Fitchburg State men's ice hockey took down the Lancers of Worcester State this evening in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/18/24

- Score: Fitchburg 6, Worcester 1

- Records: Fitchburg (8-6-2, 7-3-2 MASCAC), Worcester (6-4-2, 3-9 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Worcester scored their only goal to start the contest four minutes into the first period. Brigham Neuhold was the Lancer who found the back of the net. The Falcons would go on to score six unanswered goals. They netted two in the first, from Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) and Alexandre Bauvais (Meudon, France).

- Fitchburg would tack on one more in the second to go up 3-1 on a power play goal by Antoine Gignac (Quebec City, Que).

- The Falcons would rack up another three in the third period, with Dunn scoring his second goal. Bauvais would also put in his second of the game next on another power play chance. Samuel Rennick (Salisbury, MA) would finish the night with the Falcons third successful power play opportunity.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Max Macchioni (N. Kingstown, RI) made 32 saves in the win, putting him at 5-3-2 on the season.

-  Jakub Kubik made 33 saves in the loss, dropping him to 2-8 on the season.

-  Shots: Fitchburg 39, Worcester 33

- Power plays: Fitchburg was 3-for-5, Worcester was 0-for-3.

- Penalties: Worcester had 10 minutes on 5 infractions. Fitchburg had 6 minutes on 3 infractions.
