Lancers Fall in NCAA First Round to Ephs

Worcester, MA. - - The Worcester State Field Hockey travelled to Williamstown, MA this evening to take on the host Williams College in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. After toppling Framingham State on Sunday afternoon 2-0, the Lancers were looking towards their first NCAA trip since 2019.

The opening quarter would see the Ephs jump to an early 3-0 lead on their home turf a dig a hole that would be hard for the Lancers to bounce back from, but fight is what the Lancers did. The Lancers stuck strong on defense working to clear the Williams attack out of the zone for the majority of the game, working a team and unit to counter the offensive flurry of the Ephs.

On the night, the Ephs out shot the Lancers 35-2. Williams struck 22 shots on goal and Worcester State struck 1 shot on goal. Senior Sam Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) would record seven saves in her 30 minutes of action while junior Madison Ferrara would tally another 8 on the night. First year and reigning MASCAC Championship MVP Maddie Parker (Leominster, MA) would record another defensive save on the night while senior Grace Adams (Leominster, MA) would record the lone shot on goal.

The Lancers close out their season with a 13-7 record and MASCAC regular season and tournament Champions.
