Women's Volleyball Takes Two from Curry and Albertus

MILTON, MA: Fitchburg State women's volleyball came back to take down Curry College this morning in non-conference action, 3-2. The Falcons finished the tri-match with another non-conference victory over Albertus Magnus by a score of 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match One
- After dropping the first two sets due to Curry's service aces, the Falcons came back to take three straight. Sariah Dyer (Raynham, MA) topped the team in kills with 14. She was followed by Gabrielle Griffiths (Sasebo, Japan) and Samantha Mirra (Burlington, MA), who both finished with ten kills. Mirra also contributed 23 digs, finishing second to Jessica Greco (Southington, CT), who finished with an impressive 31 digs. Emily Gelinas (Westfield, MA) found all three hitters for 37 assists.
- Curry was paced by Lauren Guzman, who finished with a match-high 15 kills. She also racked up a team-high 24 digs. Abby Sousa dished out 31 assists along with 13 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match Two
- Mirra and Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) topped the Fitchburg offense in game two with 13 kills by Mirra and 11 by Sardella. Greco anchored the defense with 13 digs, while Gelinas added another 32 assists, giving her 69 for the day.
- Majo Pelaez topped all student-athletes with 20 kills to go with 11 digs. Amanda Zdru was the only one to have more digs, with 19. Shalese Gordon delved out 32 assists for the Falcons.
