Men's Soccer falls on the road at Castleton 1-0
Castleton, VT- The MCLA Men's Soccer team went on the road this evening to battle Castleton State. The host Spartans scored early in the opening half and then held on for a 1-0 win over the Trailblazers.
MCLA falls to 3-7-1 overall while Castleton improves to 9-2-2 on the season.
The Spartans scored just seven minutes into the contest when Alex McCormick blasted a shot past MCLA's Matt Robinson from 25 yards out giving the hosts the early edge. Neither side would budge for the remainder of the half and Castleton led 1-0 at halftime.
The Spartans owned the second half outshooting the Trailblazers 10-1, however could not extend their lead. Nate Koenemann was tough in net stopping four shots for Castleton.
Robinson collected 5 saves for the Trailblazers. Each side had a pair of corner kicks.
The Trailblazers are back in action on Saturday morning when they travel to Westfield State for an 11am kickoff.
