Women's Volleyball Dominates Tri-Match at Salem State

SALEM, Mass. - The Curry College women's volleyball team picked up a pair of sweeps Saturday in a tri-match at Salem State University, defeating both the host Vikings and Lesley University. Set scores were 25-20, 25-7, 25-12 against Salem State and 25-9, 25-8, 25-10 against Lesley.

With the sweep, Curry moves back to .500 on the season with an overall record of 10-10.

Outside hitter Lexi Pereira (Attleboro, Mass.) had a huge opening match for Curry to secure the win to start the day. The senior notched a season-high 21 kills to go along with 15 digs to lift the Colonels on both sides of the ball. Sophomore libero Avia Fraine (Mattapoisett, Mass.) matched Pereira with 15 digs to tie for the team-lead defensively, while junior setter Brooke Reissfelder (Biddeford, Maine) recorded 40 assists and 10 digs for a double-double.

Curry's 25-7 set two victory was the lowest point total the Colonels have allowed in a set this season. Curry hit an astounding .367 in the set with 13 kills, and held the Vikings to just three kills.

The Colonels kept the momentum rolling into their second match of the day to grab their second straight victory.

Curry depended on an offense-by-committee to earn the win, paced by sophomore Haley Ferrara (Sandown, N.H.) with six kills. Right behind Ferrara was senior Amanda Anderson (Hanson, Mass.) with five kills.

Leading Curry defensively was freshman libero Lexie Jenkins (Burns, Wyo.) with 10 digs.

The Colonels will return to the court on Wednesday evening for a road CCC match against Gordon College.
