Newton, MA - The Lasell University Women's Volleyball team opened their 2023 season with a sweep of Mass Maritime, winning 25-11, 25-14, 25-12. The Lasers are now 1-0, while the Buccaneers are 0-1.

The Lasers took control in the first set early, leading 7-2. The five point lead would stay until it was 16-11. It was then that the Lasers scored nine consecutive points to take the set 25-11. During that 9-0 run, McKenna McCool recorded four aces. The second and third set were no different, with the Lasers holding commaning leads throughout, taking the next two sets 25-14 and 25-12.

It was a team effort from the Lasers, with seven different players recording multiple kills, led by Juliana Medini's seven. Sydney Katz and Saige Cambonga-Meyers each led the team with 11 set assists each. Defensively, Maddie Caro led the team with seven digs. McKenna McCool had seven service aces, tied for the 11th most in a match in school history.
