Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision to Keene State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Keene State College in non-conference women's soccer action this afternoon at Swenson Field in Bridgewater.

Keene State improves to 12-5-2 on the season with the win, while Bridgewater dips to 7-7-2.

Junior forward Nora Mahoney (Belchertown, MA)  paced the visiting Owls with a pair of goals.  Mahoney opened the scoring in the eighth minute as she knocked in a loose ball off a cross in front of the net.

Senior midfielder Molly Brunelle (Walpole, NH) set up Keene's second goal in the 11th minute of play as she headed the ball inside the 18.  Senior forward Katie Bradford (West Lebanon, NH) took the pass and ripped a shot into the back of the net for a 2-0 Owl lead.

Mahoney capped of the scoring with her third goal of the season in the 87th minute. 

Keene State sophomore goaltender Meghan Dempsey (Weymouth, MA) made five saves to record her fifth shutout of the season. Junior netminder Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) turned aside two shots for the host Bears.

The Owls outshot the Bears by a margin of 15-8, while Bridgewater held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

BSC will wrap up the regular season with a key MASCAC game on Saturday (noon) at home against Mass. Maritime Academy.  The Bears need a win over the Buccaneers coupled with a Salem State loss or tie to earn the fourth and final seed in the MASCAC Tournament.  Keene State hosts Little East Conference foe Southern Maine on Saturday at 1:30.
