Men’s Hockey Blows Past Worcester State

WORCESTER, MA: Rivier men's hockey took down Worcester State at the Fidelity Ice Center this afternoon.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/5/22

- Score: Rivier 5, Worcester St. 1

- Records: Rivier (1-1-1), Worcester St. (1-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a scoreless first quarter Avery Arnold (Camp Hill, PA) got the Raiders in the board just two minutes in on a power play. The Lancers would knot it back up at 11:52 on a Drew Eid goal. It would be all Rivier from then on. The Raiders would put one more in to close out the second period on top 2-1. Jon Tavella (E. Longmeadow, MA) would beat the Worcester tender to start the four-unanswered goal run.  

Milan Breczko (Klasterec, Czech Rep) netted the first goal of the third period just 54 seconds in. Freshman Jack Tos (Burlington, ON) scored at 6:59 to increase the Raiders lead to 4-1. The last goal came at 15:01 on an empty net from Kurt Watson (London, ON).  

- Luke Newell (Littleton, CO) got the win in net after saving 23 shots on net. Jakub Kubik was tagged with the loss after allowing four goals while saving 30.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Rivier 35, WSU 24

-  Penalties: Rivier 14 minutes on 6 infractions, WSU 14 minutes on 7 infractions.

-  Power Plays: Rivier 1-for-5, WSU 0-for-4
