Bridgewater, MA-- In a clash of New England regional conference leaders, the Bridgewater State University men's soccer team held the Lasell College Lasers scoreless through ninety minutes, securing a 4-0 victory on Wednesday night. Lasell leads the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a 4-4 overall and a 3-0 league slate, while Bridgewater heads the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 7-2 overall, and 2-0 conference record.

Shots were nearly even in the match with the Lasers holding a thin 14-13 edge as well as a narrow 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.  Bridgewater goaltender DJ Siewierski (Stow, MA) rejected seven shots by Lasell in his third shutout of the season.  Lasell's junior keeper Matthew Bruninghaus (Plymouth, MA) tallied a pair of saves in the defeat.

The hosts got on the board quickly when junior forward Jose DePina (Boston, MA) redirected a cross from Donald Flores (Cranston, RI) in the 11^th minute. After Simao Mendes (Brockton, MA) converted a penalty kick just 37 seconds later, DePina would score again in the 20^th minute, scoring on the nearside post after an indirect kick was awarded to the Bears.  Flores picked up his second assist on the play.  Bridgewater had a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

The score would hold until the 73^rd minute when Mike Fraser (Marshfield, MA) drilled a shot past Bruininghaus to bring about the final score.

On Saturday, October 2^nd, the Lasers will entertain Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Suffolk University at 12:00 p.m. on Taylor Field.  The Rams are currently 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the league.
