LANCERS DROP DOUBLEHEADER TO PLYMOUTH ST.

WORCESTER, MA - The Worcester State University women's volleyball team fell short at home in a doubleheader match versus Plymouth State on Saturday. Plymouth State won the first match in four sets.  The scores were 25-19, 25-15, 24-26, and 25-15.  In the second match, Plymouth State was the victor in straight sets.  The scores were 25-13, 25-16, 25-9.

With the two losses, Worcester State falls to 0-3 on the year, while Plymouth State starts their season 2-0.

In the first match, Plymouth State was led by Emilee Flanagan and Nora Ryan who had 12 kills apiece.  Alexa Price has 48 assists  while Marissa Plaza and Imalay Rodriguez Martinez combined for 22 digs (11 each).  Plymouth State as a team had 13 blocks and double digit kills in all four sets.  For the Lancers, Natalie Gillis led the attack with 10 kills and 15 digs while Sarah Ward had 19 assists and Leelle Tyler had 12 kills.

In the nightcap, statistical leaders for Plymouth State included Plaza with 7 digs,  Flanagan with 7 kills, and Price with 32 32 assists.  For Worcester State, Meaghan Marcoux and Camryn Burgio led the way with 5 kills apiece, while Denise Hoxha had 10 digs and Jess Rancourt had 9 assists.

Worcester State will return to action on Wednesday, September 8th, when they face Lesley University at home.  First serve from Brissette Court is scheduled for 7 p.m.
