Women's Volleyball Downed by Blue Jays

WEST HARTFORD, CT: Fitchburg State women's volleyball was defeated by the University of Saint Joseph's Blue Jays this evening in non-conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/3/23

- Score: USJ 3, Fitchburg 1 (18-25, 22-25, 25-19, 14-25)

- Records: USJ (3-14), Fitchburg (7-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Blue Jays had three hit double-digits in kills this evening. Leading the way was Victoria Adler with 13. She was followed up by Shannon Carey with 12 kills and Shaye Harris with 10. Both Nicole Albert and Alexandra Long were in the setting position tonight. Albert delved out 19 assists, while Long contributed 17. Fernanda Ayala Rodriguez held down the defense with 28 digs.

- The Falcons Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) and Samantha Mirra (Burlington, MA) led the offense in this one, with Sardella racking up 12 kills and Mirra finishing with 10. Mirra also topped the team on the defensive side as well with 16 digs. Emily Gelinas (Westfield, MA) continues to send out more assists, with another 27 in this one. Last week, she surpassed the single-season assists record of 323. She is currently sitting at 360 on the season.
