Soccer Shuts Out Rams in MASCAC Victory

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Soccer team returned to the field Saturday morning, as they traveled to Framingham State to battle the Rams in a MASCAC showdown. The Lancers look to get back in the win column after a 1-1 tie earlier this week against Springfield College.

Final: Worcester State: 3  Framingham State: 0

The Lancers got off to a fast start as they jumped out to an early first half lead. Junior Mal Hawkins (Berkley, CA) put the ball behind the net to get the Lancers a 1-0 lead in the middle of the first half. Worcester played stellar defense as they held Framingham to 2 shots on net in the first half. The Lancers continued their strong performance into the second half as they played strong defense and tapped in another goal. This time it was sophomore Tazir Kaba (Malden, MA) who was assisted by Mal Hawkins in the 73rd minute to extend the Worcester State lead to 2-0 on the Rams. The Lancers were not done however as sophomore Brady Iovanni (Lunenburg, MA) joined Hawkins and Kaba in the goal column as the Lancers lead increased to 3-0.

Senior Andy Ramirez (Waltham, MA) faced 9 shots as he pitched a shutout in net.

The Lancers, who now sit at (3-5-4, 2-3) look to build off this shutout conference win, as they return to the field Wednesday night as they travel to Rhode Island College, with a 7pm start time. Framingham State  now sits at (5-7-1) on the season.
