Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bison blank Trailblazers, 2-0

Recap
Graduate student Meghan Dunn and freshman Madison Clark scored first-half goals to lift the Nichols College women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over MCLA in the season-opener for both programs Friday evening at the Nichols Soccer Field.

Clark and junior Kaylin Goncalves added assists for the Bison (1-0-0), who won their season-opener for the second year in a row. Nichols held a 25-8 edge in shots.

Clark set up the first goal with a shot from outside the box that was turned aside by junior goalkeeper Megan Richardson. Dunn collected the rebound and poked it into the left corner of the net at 16:51. Ten minutes later, senior Julia Yewcic made a long run down the left side, and eventually the ball found its way to Clark, who scored into the upper 90 for her first collegiate goal at 26:54.

Three things you need to know…
-Dunn scored 18 goals for the Bison from 2014-15, but was not a member of the program the past two seasons.
-Senior goalkeeper Brooke Downey – who entered the season No. 3 in program history in shutouts – did not record a save in picking up her eighth career whitewash.
-Richardson recorded eight saves for the Trailblazers (0-1-0).

Quote
"Today was a great start to the season. We had a very productive preseason and that definitely showed in this match. Our communication, pace of play, and attacking mentality was outstanding. We plan to bring this energy into Sunday's match." – Nichols head coach Karen Gurnon
