Field Hockey Starts MASCAC Play with OT Win Over Fitchburg

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State field hockey team defeated Fitchburg State by a score of 2-1 in overtime Saturday morning at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Framingham State 2, Fitchburg State 1 (OT) 

- Records:Framingham State (2-3, 1-0 MASCAC), Fitchburg (0-4, 0-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams took the lead in the 23rd minute when graduate student Isabella Kondi sent one into the back of the cage.  

  • The Falcons tied the score late in the fourth quarter when Autumn Tibbetts was able to force overtime in the 53rdminute of play.  

  • Kondi scored her second of the game and game-winner in the third minute of overtime to send the Rams to victory.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Rams goalie Kaitlyn Tello made four saves in net for the Rams while Cori Lawson was credited with a defensive save 

  • Jenna Morse made nine stops in net for the Falcons. 

  • The Rams outshot the visitors 14-to-10 while only having four penalty corners to the Falcons seven.  

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to action on Thursday evening when they host Eastern Connecticut State in non-conference action. The Falcons will travel to Anna Maria for non-league play on Wednesday at 4pm.
